Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes it’s a long time since he had the range of options in attack he does now, the Daily Mail has reported.
Wenger added that in recent years there has been a trend for the club’s big attacking players to move on but that’s changed with the signings of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, who joined last summer from Real Madrid and this summer from Barcelona respectively, the former for a club record fee.
“Three, four, five years ago we lost a big player every year,” Wenger said. “In the last two years we've added players like Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. I have more attacking options than I've had for a long time.”
Arsenal on Sunday beat Premier League champions Manchester City to land the Community Shield, three months after they beat Hull City to lift the FA Cup, Arsenal’s first trophy in nine years.
Sanchez made his debut for Arsenal in the win over City, playing the first-half, although Ozil is yet to return to club action after helping Germany win the World Cup. His compatriot Lukas Podolski is in a similar situation, while Wenger can also call on Santi Cazorla and Olivier Giroud, who, along with Aaron Ramsey, netted in the 3-0 win over Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
